Complete your Scrambler restoration, protect your all-original Scrambler, or seal up your CJ-8 for the winter months with a GR8TOPS® full Scrambler hardtop. These hardtops make your 1981-1986 Jeep Scrambler the original SUV it was meant to be —spacious and roomy—protecting the passengers and gear in the entire cabin. Available options allow you to costomize yours for maximum versatility.
GR8TOPS built these tops to last with the utmost fit and function. Some of the design features include:
- Three-ply construction with coremat reinforcement
- Full-length tinted windows for excellent visibility
- Ground-up design as a complete top—not two tops spliced together
- Interior is lined with a grey automotive carpet matting to absorb sound and insulate the large interior.
- Rear hatch with lockable latches on either side to ensure that the liftgate is secure when the rear hatch is closed
Available options:
- NEW- exclusive option of integrated speaker pod mounts in the rear corners
- Rear window defroster, harness, and switch
- Roofrack with sliding feet and crossbars for a number of possible carrying configurations
- Gelcoat finishing process with the following exterior color options: black, white, or grey
INSTALLATION: The top requires no drilling to mount. The front windshield installs with tension adjusting cam latches behind the sun visors (included). The top is clamped to the bedrails using clamps very simliar to a truck camper top for easy removal of the top.
FITMENT NOTE: These hardtops are only guaranteed to fit original Scrambler metal bodies that have not had significant body damage or modifications. 4WD Hardware fiberglass bodies are narrower than OEM metal tubs and these tops do not fit well on fiberglass bodies. GR8TOPS full CJ8 hardtops will also fit Aqualu aluminum tubs as well. At this time we do not make a bobbed Scrambler hardtop. We test fit all our tops to a real OEM Jeep Scrambler body with OEM steel doors.

FREIGHT/SHIPPING:
This item is oversized and shipped by our preferred LTL truck freight carrier of UPS Freight. Business address preferred but not required. Residential delivery available for additional $65 charge. Customer can also pickup at nearest local UPS Freight terminal. Orders may be picked up at our location but will incur the local 7% South Carolina Sales tax. Please see the freight information page for approximate freight costs and additional shipping information.
AVAILABILITY:
These tops are NOT stocked and are built to order. Credit card required as deposit to initiate the order and build process. Credit card will not be charged until order is completed and ready to ship. Please allow 3-4 weeks build time.
ONSITE INSTALLATION:
GR8TOPS can perform full installations and conversions in our shop in Lexington, SC. We also have our own spray on bedliner system to completely seal and protect the rear (or the full interior) of your Jeep in addition to installing the full length CJ8 hardtop on your Scrambler. Please see our Installation page for more details and approximate pricing. Installations are by appointment only and normally can be completed in 1-2 business days depending on the options requested.
